Private Internet Access

Summary

This VPN is offered by London Trust Media, whose purpose is to make the internet a place where you can roam freely without censorship, surveillance (and all those other communist words my grandma still uses).

Security

The encryption they use is CBC Blowfish algorithm -based  and OpenVPN,as wel as  other encryption protocols such as IPSec/L2TP, SOCKS5(for those that want to configure a BitTorrent client to be used anonymously without a VPN) and PPTP so the user has the freedom to select which protocol is best for them and their needs(some want speed, some want to evade censorship, some just want to be a common baron caterpillar). Moreover they also have a  ‘zero logs’policy ,DNS leak protection, and Internet kill Switch (if your VPN connection goes down),but i feel that i have to mention that although they have a zero logs policy, they’re in the Us and they’re not immune to their data retention laws.

Pricing

Like others in the branch, this VPN comes in 3 flavours,1 month subscription -$6.95, 6 months $35.95 and a year- $39.95($3.33 a month!).The bad news is that there is no free trial or money back guarantee. Payment options are credit, debit cards,Paypal Google Checkout and it also accepts Bitcoin currency, which is a plus concerning security and privacy.

Support, site

The site is quite easy to navigate, simple and efficient as is their customer service(consisting of ticketed email system and live chat),their response time failing to disappoint.

Setup &Compatibility

Simplicity i think is the word that would be best to describe the signing up and setup process;you just choose your method of  payment(we recommend Bitcoin for more anonymity),then you receive an activation email from which you download your client.

The client has a simple setting page and the fields were auto-filled with the username and password from the email, then some more advanced settings(still and easy chore),right click on the icon and then connect.

PIA can be used on various devices and OS(Windows,OSX,Ubuntu,Android,iOS) and has tutorials  for most of them.

Conclusion

If you’re not bothered by that the fact that they’re US-based,it’s pretty much  one of the cheapest, safest and simplest VPN out there.
